Egging on the next generation of industry leaders

The Coalition Government has provided over $52,000 to support the next generation of Australian egg industry leaders.

Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, Senator Anne Ruston, said Egg Farmers of Australia Limited would receive the funding as part of the Coalition Government’s $5 million Leadership in Agricultural Industries Fund.

“Egg Farmers of Australia is the newly formed national body representing egg farmers in a robust industry valued at $783 million,” Minister Ruston said.

“It is important to support leadership in this valuable industry, and I am pleased the government can provide this contribution through the Leadership in Agricultural Industries Fund.”

The funding will support two scholarships for up-and-coming egg industry leaders to participate in the Australian Rural Leaders Foundation’s Training Rural Australians in Leadership course and two scholarships for directors to participate in an Australian Institute of Company Directors course.

“The Coalition Government recognises how important strong industry leadership is to the ongoing success of our agriculture industries,” Minister Hartsuyker said.

“This is valuable funding for this young organisation to use tried and true training pathways to grow leadership in the egg industry.”

Senator for Queensland, James McGrath, who made the announcement at the Australian Eggs 25th Industry Forum and Annual General Meeting, said the government was ensuring representative organisations were able to advocate agricultural and rural issues to the wider community and to government and champion their industries' priorities.

“We are funding important projects which will have a lasting impact—supporting the next generation of leaders to rise to the challenge.”
